In the city of Atlanta, Georgia, Hot 107.9 is arguably the best radio station in town. Every year for the last 20 years, they’ve had a birthday bash, and they bring out some of the best talents in the industry. Kanye West Performs At Birthday Bash. This year’s birthday bash was no less explosive, and they brought out the biggest names in rap music. The show was attended by Future, 2 Chainz, Drake, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Meek Mill. There were other artists who showed up as well, and some of them were not even scheduled to be at the bash.
Kanye West is who closed the show, and many were more than happy to see the artist perform. It’s well known that Kanye West has some explosive shows, especially when he’s on tour, so it’s always nice to see him in concert. Future, who used to date Ciara, he is from Atlanta, Georgia, and he got the biggest reaction from the crowd. Not only was Future’s performance a big one, he made it even better when he brought Drake on the stage.
Drake took the time to perform some of his hits, especially the ones from his newest mix tape as Mr Amazing Loan noted. Everyone was really happy to see Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill, and they definitely were a high point on the show. The show had been advertised in Atlanta for weeks, and now that it’s past, it definitely was a hit.
Many artists who were popular in the recording industry age of CDs have not fared well in the digital era. They found making the transition proved difficult. For rapper Eminem, the opposite has held true. His fans who once bought his CDs now are purchasing digital downloads of his newer songs. Two of those hits have been awarded Digital Diamond status. That happens when the song has been purchased and downloaded ten million times.
“We are delighted to recognize Eminem as the first artist to earn two RIAA Digital Diamond Awards,” said RIAA Chairman and CEO Cary Sherman. “This singular achievement — earning a Diamond Award on two separate digital songs — is unparalleled, and we congratulate him on forever etching a mark in Gold & Platinum Program history.”
The songs are 2010’s “Not Afraid” and his collaboration with Rihanna “Love The Way You Lie.” Interestingly enough, both songs have long been available on YouTube where they have been viewed over one billion times says Steve Murray. In total Eminem has sold over 155 million records worldwide. He is also Spotify’s most-streamed artist of all time. All of his accolades have helped him make the transition from older media to the newer format of digital recordings with no issue. A favorite with critics as well as music fans, he’s also amassed 13 Grammy Awards during his career. Eminem has earned a reputation for being honest with his lyrics and has spoken publicly about his successful battle with substance abuse.
Fall Out Boy Has New Theme for Summer Tour
As with many other bands this summer, Fall Out Boy will be yet another one heading on tour for the summer months. There may also be some other artists coming along with them this time.
Last year Fall Out Boy teamed up with Paramore for the “Monumentour” and traveled across the country to fill out stadiums and venues with new pop and punk music. According to the Examiner, this year Fall Out Boy has decided to take a newer approach for their upcoming Boys of Zummer tour, mainly by doing a less standard rock n’ roll show, according to singer Pete Wentz.
Wentz said that during last year’s tour they played tons of rock n’roll songs and felt if they did it again, all it would be is just rehashing and repeating the same songs and tone over again. Doing this would allow the band to keep going with being a mainstream band and remain relevant.
Fall Out Boy first came into existence back in 2001 when they formed outside of Chicago and went from playing pop-punk music to hip hop, rock and some electronic music. In 2013 they released their album “Save Rock and Roll,” and followed it up with “American Beauty/American Psycho” that January. They even enlisted the talents of rapper Wiz Khalifa for their LP, who they say plays music style similar to theirs.
Since I do not subscribe to cable or satellite, I enjoy discovering creative shows that keep me interested and wanting more. Netflix, the online video giant, continues to reel me in with creative, original programming.
According to Reddit, Netflix has plans to release five more original shows for the entire family. I am already on pins and needles just thinking about the opportunities.
My children are adults now, but I remember searching for the perfect age-appropriate, series. Netflix is making the search easier. Four animated children’s shows are scheduled to be available: Tarzan and Jane, An Army of Frogs, Puffin Rock, Gravity4 and Cirque du Soleil Luna Petunia. All of which sound intriguing for their younger audience.
Teenagers are not left out of the excitement either. The video empire will provide new episodes of the Canadian drama, Degrassi. Netflix has plans to release the new series, Degrassi: Next Class in 2016.
Of course, the announcement would not be complete without introducing adult programming. Upon the success of House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, new territory must be trudged. Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp which is based on the film with the same name by David Wain is scheduled to premier July 17th. Miley Cyrus just released a dreamy new track called ‘Nightmare’. It’s unknown if the track is a demo, a B-side or a cut from her follow-up. However, the track itself is amazing. Whether it’s the synth beat, the drop or both, Nightmare is an amazing song. This is apparently another one of many pleasant surprises that Miley has brought us this week. From what I can tell, she has been doing pretty well lately. She’s managed to do amazingly well in the pop genre and has become pretty popular since the release of ‘Wrecking Ball’. I for one applaud Miley for her latest release and all of her success lately. The team behind Madison Street Capital feel that she is definitely an extremely talented singer and musician that I would gladly listen to. I hope that she’s able to make many more amazing and awesome songs in the near future and can’t wait to see what she does next.
That headline is an oxymoron. Most true punk rockers and punk bands tend to stray away from consumerism, capitalism, and what they stand for. One of the first punk bands to make that stand was the United Kingdom based punks the Sex Pistols. However, I guess just about everyone sells out at some point.
According to a story on The Guardian
, the Sex Pistols will now be featured as the face of Virgin Money credit cards says Igor Cornelson
. The man behind the Virgin brand, Sir Richard Branson, has released a series of credit cards that feature several different Sex Pistol themes, including the cover of their album “Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols” and one of their most popular songs, “Anarchy in the UK”. The marketing team for Virgin Money has said that their Sex Pistols credit card will be like having “a bit of rebellion in your pocket”.
John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, has yet to release a statement about his band being featured as the front of consumerism now. Although, Lydon did recently do a television commercial for the brand Country Life Butter.
I have to wonder what Sid Vicious would think of all this is he were still alive.
The benefits of plant-based diets are becoming more obvious to many. Famous singer Beyonce has added her name to a growing list of vegans. Fans like Keith Mann for the most part already knew this and some expressed outrage that she hyped up this “announcement” during a visit to Good Morning America.
Fans took to social media to say they were disappointed over the news. They already knew that in February she announced a business venture that featured vegan food delivery. To many of her fans, today’s announcement signalled she was promoting her business interests.
“This is something I have to share with everyone,” she said. “I am not naturally the thinnest women. I have curves, I’m proud of my curves and I have struggled since a young age with diets and finding something that actually works and actually keeps the weight off. It’s been difficult for me.”
Beyonce followed the “22-Day Revolution Diet” from Marco Borges. This diet helps someone establish a brand new habit of eating plant-based food. Beyonce credits the diet with her transition to a healthier lifestyle. The diet follows an “80-10-10” protocol that has become more popular in recent years. Those who try it can learn that calorie restriction does not have to be a part of their lives. Instead, they can eat large amounts of fruits and vegetables without counting calories. Plant-based diets have been shown to reduce the risks of most major diseases.
Deadheads and nurses at the Amen Clinic are rejoicing at the news that the Grateful Dead will be releasing an 80 CD box set featuring 30 never before released shows. The massive collection will be available to fans on September 18, and will commemorate the Dead’s 50th anniversary. It consists of over 73 hours of music, and will cover the years 1965 to 1995.
This difinitive collection is the biggest box set from the band ever, and will be called Thirty Trips Around The Sun. There will be a limited number available, only 6,500 numbered copies. Inside, fans will also find a bonus vinyl 45 record, the B-side of which is the last song the band played together in 1995, “Box of Rain”. A 288 page collectors book is also part of the package. You can pre-order the set on the band’s website. 1,000 lightning bolt USB drives will also be released.
If the $699.95 price tag is a bit much for you, there will be a 4 disc companion set available called Thirty Trips Around the Sun: The Definitive Live Story 1965-1995 and will feature some of the best cuts from the larger collection. Dead archivist David Lemieux stated, “This is, without a doubt, the biggest thing we will ever do.”
You heard it right; the beloved series of robots in disguise may have a prequel set up in the next few years. “Paramount pictures” really want to take advantage of the transformers series and expand it as much as possible and with good reason as well. The transformer series has not even come close to touching the amount stories they could hit on with these awesome beings. Fans everywhere are begging for a movie on Cybertron without humans and make it just transformer drama. Well the fans might get what they want, rumor has it that paramount is bringing in the big guns to brainstorm for a possible multipart film series. The walking dead’s Robert Kirkman and the Incredible Hulk’s Zak Penn are two of the many successes that will be working on the films.
To date, we are expected to see transformers 5 in 2017, but nothing else has been released as far as Sam Tabar knows on Crunchbase. We really expect a six to finish the sequel and then hopefully the Cybertron prequel to follow. As of now it is all speculation as most of the directors are bust working on other projects like Ant-man, Pacific Rim 2, and the Ready Player One. Overall Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is already underworks and should be a great add-on to the series. The Transformers story line is a great one, and no one should worry about the movie industry capitalizing on revenue from it.
Sometimes a rapper looks for a way to promote an album because his music may not be selling well. A$AP Rocky has been around for a long time, but it doesn’t have a mainstream fan base. In his new album he disses his old flames and calls out names to get buzz about his music.
Rita Ora is one of the names that he has no problem mentioning. There is also a possible jab at Rihanna on this new set of songs. This is a strange approach when both of the women that he dissed are much more famous than he is. This is also strange because you never know when you will need the company of entertainers that you have connected with in the past. Some people may hear the rhymes and think that he is clever. He wants this to help him sell albums. Unfortunately, he didn’t think about the reverse effect that this could have.
For him to diss these stars it may be a backlash where he actually loses fans. Just as someone could diss a company in a FreedomPop review, they could also take to the internet like on CNET to voice their opinion on this artist. He talks in such a harsh tone that one could be inclined to believe that this is not fiction but truth. Now that he has released the album he has to deal with the fact that many women – and lots of men – may not find his rhymes all that amusing. Some may even be disgusted by this.
